FBEC is a secondary specialist school serving the former mining communities of Chilton and Ferryhill, County Durham. The vast majority of students come from five partner primary schools and transfer at age 11; our key stage 2/3 link teachers help to ease this potentially difficult process both through their personal contact and through a well designed induction programme. The Chilton and Ferryhill schools partnership is key to promoting effective continuity and progression in learning at the heart of our communities.

Young people, and their parents, can expect to receive a high quality education that aims to 'inspire learners to succeed as enterprising individuals'. We look to blend the traditional standards of good behaviour, regular and punctual attendance, positive attitude to learning with the most modern resources, innovative practice and teaching towards challenging targets. We work closely with students and their parents: listening to all: addressing needs: raising expectations, confidence and self-esteem.
