What to do if your child develops symptoms of COVID 19
For most people, especially children, COVID-19 will be a mild illness.

The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are recent onset of:
• new continuous cough and/or
• high temperature and/or
• a loss of, or change in, normal sense of taste or smell (anosmia)

If your child develops any of these symptoms of COVID-19, they should remain at home and arrangements should be made for them to be tested. At that time all other household members must also stay at home, not go to work, school or public areas, even for exercise.

Testing can be arranged by calling 119 or via the NHS website:

When the result of your child’s test is known further advice will be available.

How to stop COVID-19 spreading
There are things you can do to help reduce the risk of you and anyone you live with getting ill with COVID-19:
• wash your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds
• use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available
• wash your hands as soon as you get home
• cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze
• put used tissues in the bin immediately and wash your hands afterwards

Keeping up with school work (during isolation)
As always, we are committed to our students and will ensure that, during these difficult times, they receive high quality remote education whilst at home.

With this in mind, home learning will include one of the following options whilst our students are self-isolating:
1. Live lessons (students will be invited to these through Microsoft Teams so will need to log on and follow their normal timetable by using the calendar function or by entering the actual Team. We followed this process during lockdown.
2. Pre-recorded lessons/video tutorials including appropriate tasks that will also appear on Microsoft Teams. These tasks can be found in the individual class Team e.g 7A2 English.

In both cases, students will follow their normal timetable and will therefore need to log onto Microsoft Teams at the start of each day. As always, attendance is vital, especially given the amount of lost time our students have experienced during the Covid pandemic. Staff will monitor attendance closely and communicate with our Learning Co-ordinator, Mrs Young, to ensure students attend their timetabled lessons. If your child has any questions about the work, they can email the relevant teacher. If your child does not know their email address, they can email the subject teachers with the name of the This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. In addition, please feel free to contact the school during office hours 8am-3:30pm on 01740 651554.

Free School Meals (during isolation)
If your child is entitled to a free school meal we will telephone you to arrange a payment to be made into your bank account to cover the value of the free meals. This will happen after they return to school.
