Return to School
Happy New Year to all of our families.  School began successfully on Thursday.  Staff had little cause to speak to students about dress, or behaviour.  Well done to all students who have made such a positive start to 2012.  P Bowden

Service Children in State Schools – Are you a parent/carer of one of our students and currently serving in the Armed Forces?
Could parents/carers who are in the Armed Forces please let the school know so that the information can be recorded on Student Records for the School Census in January 2012.  A message with the student or a telephone call to the school office will suffice.  P Bowden

Xmas Gifts – Mobile Telephones
Should parents/carers have new contact numbers following the Xmas period please advise the school office of this.

Students please remember the school has a zero tolerance policy over the use of mobile phones during lessons and lesson changeovers.  Please also remember the school takes no responsibility for expensive electronic equipment that students choose to bring to school.  Parents are advised therefore to ensure your own insurance policies cover theft loss or damage to such equipment.  P Bowden

School Fund – Spring Term 2012
Thank you to those parents/students who contributed to the school fund last term.  The total amount raised was £43.  Whilst we are in difficult financial times this was disappointing bearing in mind we serve approximately 500 families.  I would ask families to consider contributing £1 towards the school fund over the next two weeks.  A collection box can be found at the main office window.  Please contribute if you feel you are able to.  P Bowden

Reminder – Hairstyle/Hair colour
Students are expected to attend school with reasonable haircuts and hair which is a natural colour.  Shaved lines and artificial colours are not allowed.  Girls in particular please be careful when using cheaper mahogany dyes as these can tend to turn the hair red.  Students who do breach these rules are likely to be sent home until the situation is resolved.  P Bowden

Staff Changes
Mrs S Martin (History) has left the school and has been replaced by Miss J Anderson.  P Bowden

Christmas Production “Cindy”
FBEC's Christmas production, "Cindy" will take place on January 10th and 11th in College. The performance starts at 6.30pm each evening (doors open 6.15pm). Tickets will be £3.00. The production involves an array of students from all year groups and is packed full with singing dancing and lots of comedy from our "twin Bruvvers!" Come along and join in the fun.  S McCavanagh

Pay phone taken out of foyer area
Due to its underuse and the cost to the School we have had the pay phone removed from the school site.  However, as is our policy, if students need to contact home, with any emergency situation or problem Clare I’Anson or other office staff are always on hand to help and ring parents as and when necessary in these circumstances.  L Edgar

The yellow forms for arranging your own placement are due in by Thursday 12th January AT THE LATEST, any forms given to me after that date will not be accepted, bring them directly to me please. C Leishman
