Penalties for Lateness and Absence (Fixed Penalty Fines)
A leaflet has been placed on the school website (Click on www.fbec.co.uk/resources/truancypenaltynotice information) which explains how poor attendance and/or lateness to school may lead to a parent/carer being issued with a fixed penalty fine.  If your child is regularly late to school or his/her absence falls below the school target of 93% please read the information leaflet so there is absolutely no misunderstanding.  P Bowden

Make Up & Skirt Length
Although our rules state that make up is not allowed on students – provided it is low key we turn a blind eye to it.  If however girls are heavily ‘made up’ they will be asked to remove their make up.  Girls do not need to be made up to attend school.  I am grateful to parents who already adhere to this guideline.

A number of students (female) in all year groups have taken to wearing very short skirts.  Often this involves the ‘age old strategy’ of leaving the house decently dressed but then folding over the waistband to make the dress shorter by the time the youngster gets to school!! Please be aware that if the length of the skirt is considered to be inappropriate by senior staff the student may be sent home to change.  P Bowden

Yr 10 Mock Maths Exam
In preparation for the GCSE Unit 1 examination on 2nd March, all Yr 10 students will be taking a mock examination in Maths on Friday 10th February.  In addition to preparations taking place in lessons, students should access www.mymaths.co.uk to conduct their own revision.  Thorough preparation for this test will be very beneficial for the real thing after half-term. Evidence shows clearly that good preparation ‘especially revision’ improve performance substantially.   M Mortimer

Money Found in Main Hall on 16th January 2012
Some money was handed in on 16th January after the Year 11 group photograph session in the Main Hall.  The money was not there during the set up for the photograph so we assumed that someone who had been standing near or on the back of the frame must have lost it.  To date, even though a message was circulated around tutor groups, nobody has come forward to claim it.  Please come and speak to Mrs Edgar as soon as possible if you believe that the money belongs to you .L. I just wanted to pass on my thanks to the excellent work done by the Anne Frank guides while the exhibition was in school. Also I wanted to congratulate all the guides, 8A1 and 9A1 for their excellent behaviour and attitude while taking part in the commerative events last Friday for Holocaust Memorial Day.
