Flamingo Land Friday 6th July
The decision to cancel the Flamingo Land trip on Friday was taken following weather warnings that had been published for that area of Yorkshire. The rearranged date for Flamingoland is now Monday 16th July, same times and arrangements apply. If any student cannot go on the trip on this day then please see Mrs Harris to arrange a refund of any monies paid. Apologies again for the late notice.  We hope for better weather on Monday 16th.

Year 11 Prom
A very successful Year 11 Prom was held at Redworth Hall Hotel on Monday 2nd July. Our students brushed up extremely well. Parents please note, although we welcome the majority of the students to the event, attendance at the prom is not an entitlement. School attendance and behaviour requirements both need to be adhered to for any student to be eligible to attend.

Enhanced healthy school
FBEC has just been awarded ‘Enhanced Healthy School’ status which has made possible through the increasing number of students cycling to/from school and the number of students undergoing cycle proficiency training in order to support ‘safe’ cycling.  Well done to those students involved with this initiative, hopefully it will continue to grow.

Paintball
Well done to all of the 31 pupils who went to Patriot Paintball on Saturday, especially the black team who won 5-0. The marshalls on site and other site users complimented me on the pupils' good behaviour and enterprise skills that were being used. A fun but slightly painful day was had by all.

Enterprise Challenge
Year 7 were given an enterprise challenge and 7DA were very keen to take part. They have organised a number of activities and would be very pleased if fellow students would come along and join them. On Tuesday, 10th July at break time in room 18, they are selling cakes/biscuits, holding a tombola, you can guess the number of sweets in a jar or the name of the teddy.
On the same day after school, they have organised a 5-a-side football tournament in the sports hall for any students who wish to take part. During the whole of next week they will also be selling raffle tickets for the chance to win a Sunderland football.
The students have shown great initiative and organised these events themselves. Fellow students please come along and support them. (Don't forget your money!) Thanks.

Year 8 Future Business Magnates success!
The FBM team have been amazing ambassadors for the school, they have successfully delivered their final presentation in front of a panel of judges. It was brilliant to see the amount of hard work that the students had done and really shine through. The judges commented and said “it was excellent, we were struggling to come up with questions as everything has been covered in the presentation”. The students were confident, polite and demonstrated excellent knowledge of their business idea. The students are currently in 5th position out of 24 secondary schools in Durham. I would like to wish them the best of luck for the awards dinner on Friday night The FBM team include: Raychelle Hall, Rebecca Mott, Reegan Mitchell, Rebecca Legge, Emily Blair, Naomi Harvey, Nicole Jackson, Robyn Hume and Zara Stephenson. Well done from
