A welcome message from Mr Pinkney, Head of School

I hope you are all keeping safe and well. It seems a life time away since we welcomed you to our school last year.  Thank you so much for choosing FBEC as the school for your son/daughter.  Despite these difficult times we want your son/daughter to have the best possible start to their secondary school.

My role is to ensure that this transition, and indeed the rest of your sons/daughters time at FBEC is an enjoyable and safe experience.  I work alongside our transition team, your learning coordinator and the SEND team to support and nurture the young people.

I have been at FBEC for nearly 14 years and have seen the school develop into a high performing, highly regarded establishment providing outstanding pastoral support.

All my staff operate an open door policy and encourage both you and your child to talk to us about any issue you have.

With this in mind I can be contacted on email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or via the school mobile number 07468740032 (between 8.00am and 8.00pm).

Please do not hesitate to contact either myself or any member of the pastoral team if you have any issues or concerns.

I look forward to meeting both yourselves and your son/daughter when we return to school.  In the meantime take care and stay safe.

Mr T. Pinkney

A big hello from Miss Corner, Transition Teacher

Hello, I hope you are all keeping safe and well during these new and strange times. We know the end of your primary school journey hasn’t quite gone as you expected, but my role as Transition Teacher with Miss Young, Head of Year 7, is to make sure your transition to FBEC goes smoothly and your first year of secondary school is happy and successful. Our pastoral team is well known for being caring and supportive and that will continue no matter the circumstances.
I have worked at FBEC for 13 years as the Transition teacher, having previously been a primary school teacher myself. I work closely with primary schools to make sure you have a settled move to secondary school. This starts in Y5 - most of you will remember me from the Taster Day at the end of Y5 and from our visits to your primary school at the start of Y6. I also teach the nurture group English, Maths and Science so students who need a little more support are taught in a smaller group with the same teacher for many lessons where learning is made fun, accessible and engaging.

I am currently talking to all of your primary school teachers so, as we can’t meet you in person right now as we normally would, we will know a little about you before you start. For example, I already know some of you love dancing, football, art, writing etc and we can’t wait to support you further in developing these skills.

Please don’t worry about the future.  We are all in this together and we are here to support you, through this and through the whole of your time at school.  We can’t wait to meet you and for you to become part of our FBEC family. If you or your parents/carers have any worries or questions, now or in the future, please just let me know. Your parent or carer can send me an email to  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or they can ring school and leave a message for me to give them a call.

See you all soon.

Miss C Corner.

Mrs Young, Year 7 Learning Coordinator

Hello all. My name is Mrs Young and I will be your learning coordinator for Year 7. I can imagine you are all now starting thinking about joining our school and wondering what it will be like, “what will I be doing”,” will I know anyone”,” what`s the dinner like”, “will I be able to do the work”? These are just a few of the questions most year 6 students will be thinking about before they join us. Well try not to worry, all of these questions will be answered.  We are here to help you settle into your new school and answer any questions you may have. We will support you to make sure you get the most out of your time with us during year 7. I am sure you will really enjoy your time at our school and I am looking forward to meeting you all soon.

Mrs H Young

Miss Bowden, Our Head of SEND

Hi Everyone,

I hope you are all keeping safe and well and are looking forward to joining us here at FBEC. Don’t worry if you feel nervous; we are here to support you alongside your primary teacher and your family. I am currently working with Miss Corner to speak with your primary school teachers so we can start to get to know you, even though we can’t see you in person at the moment.

I have been at FBEC for 5 years and currently teach English and ICT. I have a few other jobs in school too, one of which is the school’s SENCo. My department works with students who may need some extra support along the way to becoming the successful and confident young adults, who we see reach their potential in Year 11.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any concerns or queries; send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.  or leave a message with school on 01740 651554.

Take Care,

Miss G.Bowden

Their advice with the covid situtation at present is this

'We suggest parents to place their uniform orders by July 12th. This will give us sufficient time to receive back and reuse any returned items. If parents miss the cut off date , then 2nd August is the final date to ensure we can supply uniform for the start of term'
