Supporting the achievements of Disadvantaged Students


Overall Impact of Funding is at least Good and in many respects is Outstanding. The school have closed the progress gap compared to other pupils nationally

Overall Cohort on Entry 26.3 (Significantly weaker than the national average)

Students at FBEC who are Disadvantaged make more progress than expected and achieve a Progress 8 score of +0.1. In 2016 the National score for Disadvantaged students was - 0.4 according to Fischer Family Trust.


At FBEC Disadvantaged students receive a boost of in the region of 5 additional GCSE grades compared to the average Disadvantaged students nationally.
Particular strengths for Disadvantaged students are subjects such as IT (+1.6) Business Studies (+1.3), Engineering (+1.3), Art (+1.2) Sports Studies (+0.7). The vast majority of other subjects have performances that above or in line with expectations


In addition, 53% of its Disadvantaged students achieve the both English and Maths. This has further closed the gap on Non Disadvantaged students nationally.

Progress of Disadvantaged Students in Maths


Compared to their starting points, 21 students were expected to achieve 3 Levels of Progress in Maths, but the school exceeded this and 25 students achieved 3 levels of progress. In Percentage terms the school exceeded its ‘target’ by 10%, with 53% expected and 63% achieving.

 

Progress of Disadvantaged Students in English


Compared to their starting points 26 students were expected to achieve 3 Levels of Progress in English, but the school exceeded this and 34 students achieved 3 levels of progress. In Percentage terms the school exceeded its ‘target’ by 20%, with 65% expected and 85% achieving.
