Free Travel

You are eligible for free school travel if Ferryhill B & E school is your nearest school and you live more than 3 miles away or you live between 2-3 miles away and are eligible for free school meals or the maximum level of Working Tax Credits.  If this applies to you then you will need to complete an application form for free school travel which is available from Durham County Council at http://www.durham.gov.uk/article/2919/Home-to-secondary-school-transport, or by calling 03000 264444 (option 1).

 

Concessionary Travel (Subsidised travel)

FBEC operate different concessionary seat schemes in different areas.

Ferryhill, Chilton and Kelloe

If you live in the Ferryhill, Chilton or Kelloe area you can apply for a concessionary seat if:

• You are in Year 7 from September 2017 and live more than two and less than three miles from Ferryhill Business & Enterprise College (by the shortest available walking route).

OR

• You were in receipt of a Ferryhill Concessionary Seat in the school years 2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16 or 2016-17.

The charge for a full school year is £135, the equivalent of 71p per day.  Ferryhill Business & Enterprise College are covering the remaining cost of travel.

Spennymoor and Kirk Merrington

If you live in Spennymoor (including Middlestone Moor and Tudhoe) or Kirk Merrington you can apply for a Spennymoor area Concessionary Seat on a school bus.

The charge for a full school year from Kirk Merrington is £190, the equivalent of £1.00 per day and the charge from Spennymoor (including Middlestone Moor and Tudhoe) is £342, the equivalent of £1.80 per day. Ferryhill Business & Enterprise College are covering the remaining cost of travel.
